I began my teaching career in 2001 at Shawsville Elementaryjust up the road from EMES. I started out as a Reading Assistant there. I worked with students from Kindergarten  up through 5th grade in small reading groups and one on one with book buddies. This is my 11thyear of being in the classroom. I have taught both second and first grade. I am so proud of our new school and think it is a wonderful learning environment.

I grew up in Bristol, Tennessee and earned a Bachelor ofScience Degree in Social Services and my Master’s of Art in Teaching degree from East Tennessee State University.

I worked as an office manager and then a human resource manager during my early years. I later worked in an Accounting Dept and as a Purchasing Agent until I moved to Christiansburg. I was so lucky to be able to take several years off to spend with my daughter after she was born.

My husband and I moved to Christiansburg from Bristol,Virginia with our daughter, Olivia, in 1999. My husband graduated from VirginiaTech in Engineering and was really excited about moving back to this area. My hobbies include reading, camping, and anything that involves my family.

I enjoy helping boys and girls especially with reading and math which were always my two favorite subjects in school.
